I think its always wondrous how devastated nations can remain "human" Afghans suffered probably more than any country I know during the last few decades yet its normal to meet some of the most kind and fun to get along with people.

Don't you mean War Torn?...Devastated sounds as if it got hit by multiple natural disasters..
