I think this is true. Ghibli films are treated as Pixar films (great, but for kids) and most other shows are treated with a kind of cautious feelings because of unfamiliarity. Some things have older fans because they grew up with it, but they tend to ignore a lot of the new stuff. Doesn't help that 90% of anime airs well after midnight. |
I do not know about television. I will say in the age of internet you can access things on your own schedule. Crunchy Roll is a good site as well as various localization ones (Funimation, etc.).
