Oh and for everyone who thinks this is just going to be a kiddie title check out how many old people are intrested in the game. http://boards.gamefaqs.com/gfaqs/genmessage.php?board=938583&topic=40776983

That topic is (a) filled with 14 and 15 year olds, and some 20 somethings and (b) has less than 100 posts in it. So you have effectively shown that maybe 60 people over 20 will buy it. That's what's known as anecdotal evidence and has no bearing on reality.

See thing thing is we, as an online community, we live in a bubble, and that is one of our biggest analytical hurdles. You can look around gamefaqs, VGchartz, neogaf, IGN and find all sorts of interest in LBP, people are talking about how awesome it is, day 1 purchase, it'll be huge, one of the biggest games of the year, ect ect. But all of those people combined amount to a few thousand maybe. And they are a few thousand people that are the die hard of the die hard, the people that actually sign up for accounts to message boards on the internet so that they can talk about these things for hours at a time, and they (we) as a group are in no way a representative of the public at large. If we were good a good statistical sampling that proved to be accurate on a much larger scale then games like Bioshock and Metroid Prime 3 would have done much much better, and wiifit would've been a flop. But we, the die hard forum goers are an anomaly in the consumer world, and in no way reflect the thinking of the millions of people that buy videogames.

So a topic on gamefaqs that has a handful of 20 somethings does not mean that it will be perceived as a mature hardcore title, as opposed to a cute 2d platformer.
