they crunching new IP after new IP in attempt to find something successful, if they could find their Pokemon or Mario they will crunch this type of games to no end, but they failed, just look at Uncharted, four games in less than 5 years, because the franchise became quite popular.
They are fully dependent on 3rd party goodwill so they try to do whatever they wish, but without them they're nothing and this is part of Nintendo legacy, they survived and flourished without 3rd party support.
Just look at Japan and handhelds one franchise exclusive to their platform gone to Nintendo and their entire platform is in peril.
Their success was build on series of betrayal especially SQUARE, Enix and Capcom, without them the entire Playstation was debacle.
