E3 2013 saw a lot of great games this year, and one of the more gory, yet visually stunning games had to be Crytek's Ryse: Son of Rome.

In a closed doors demo of the upcoming Xbox One title, we had the chance to get an inside look at what people can expect from this game. Yes, there is going to be a large amount of violence, and that was evident with the demo Microsoft showed off at their press conference.

But there definitely seems to be more to this game than has been revealed so far. The demo only showcased a handful of combos for taking down enemies, but the developers on hand promised that there will be nearly 20 different ways to eliminate your opponents.

The combat system looks like it will lend itself just fine to players, but it will need to be one that is varied if it hopes to keep people's attention over the course of a long campaign.

We asked the developers about the violence in the game, and they said it's there to represent the time period in history and to do justice for what war was really like then. But, they did say the violence was not something they wanted to dwell on from a gameplay standpoint.

As you would expect history to play an important role in the narrative of the game and creation of the world, Crytek said they wanted to be very historically based with the elements that were in this game.

Everything you will see in this game, is going to be the product of historical research and evidence, with of course, some fictional liberties taken as well.

In addition, people can expect to see some element of gladiator fighting in another mode of Ryse: Son of Rome. While the developers on hand were cagy about those details, they did say there will be an element of that in the game.

This will be an interesting element to the game, but Crytek will need to be smart about how they implement gladiator matches.

Ryse: Son of Rome is set to hit the Xbox One this holiday season.
