Actually, there could be other reasons. My friends and I borrow games from each other; if the games I am interested show up on PSN+, chances are I have already played it or already own it.
If we take your one game for $50 example, why would you pay $50 to rent one game? Seriously, it's not for everyone. If it is a great service for you, that's great. It doesn't mean it works well for everyone.
