I play every game at 7680x1440, most console ports will happily run at maximum, more demanding titles like Metro and Crysis I usually tone it down to medium, but at that Resolution, no other platform stands a chance in sheer amount of pixels smashing into the Retina.
The PS4 and Xbox One would scream "I'm a teapot" at that resolution.

However, what people want is a "comparable" box to the PS4 at the same price, it's not going to happen unless you make concessions in the hardware or buy second hand.
But they also throw out the idea that the PS4 and Xbox One are more expensive over the long run, for whatever reasons.

You buy 50 games on the PC, if they were all $10 cheaper that's $500 saved right there, Granted more often than not you can save more than $10 per game.
Playstation Plus is what, $350 over a 5 year period?
Don't forget the controllers too on top of that number.

So...
Playstation 4, $550 AUD.
50 games, $500 AUD.
Paying for online (lol), $350 AUD.
That's $1400 AUD right there, as a best case scenario.

If you can't build a PC that isn't going to last 5 years for that budget then something is wrong and again, the PC would still be cheaper as the games are usually more than $10 cheaper if you go to the right place.

On top of that, you can do more on the PC. If you feel inclined, even make your own games, mods, maps... etc'.
