Platformer: Mario Galaxy 1 and 2
Sports Game: I don't play sports games
Best RPG: Xenoblade
Best Third person shooter: Spec Ops the Line
Best overall game: Super Mario Galaxy
My personal favorite game of the generation that didn't seem to fit in any of these categories is Dishonored. That game was honestly one of my top ten games of all time.
Honorable mentions: The walking dead, Infamous, Little big planet.
