You always forget that hardware power is nothing compared to how it's used.
For exemple, the real-time demo Quantic Dream or Guerilla showcased look way better graphically than any Battlefield Ultrasetting or Crysis mod.
In fact, the futur is not in hardware anymore but in Engines : it's like the Mhz or Ghz race of the PC or the megapixels race of the Camera few years ago; it's ridiculous and doesn't mean anything.
The last impressive results we've seen in gaming weren't because of the awfully slowly evolving (and expensive) graphic cards but because of new engines like Frostbyte 2, CrysEngine, Unreal4 etc...and that's why lots of big publishers lie Square-Enix or Kojima are doing their own engine.
