I think we need it desperately. We definitely need a group of professional video game critics.

Reporting on the news shouldn't be that hard -- company A released X game, company B saw record-breaking profits -- but it takes a lot of hard work, research, and professionalism to write an informed and articulate review.

To be honest, the failings of video game websites and publications are partly our fault. Video game fans have unreasonable expectations and send a lot of mixed signals.
