I thought smart watches were the way to go many years ago. I had the MS SPOT Watch and tried many other smart watches. SPOT was the best of them, with weather, calendar integration, etc.

Today, most people carry smart phones. Which has all the stuff a smart watch can offer and much more...

Smart watches may get an initial decent showing, but in the long term I think the idea of wearing a device on your wrist is going to disappear. I am quite happy with my smart phone being my watch/calendar/email/weather person/calculator, etc. I keep my iPad Mini in my vehicle for the times when I am out and need to surf for something, I use a tablet for surfing on the couch, I use consoles for gaming, and I have a very high end ultrabook for real computing/pc gaming.

The only use I would have for a smart watch is if it is water proof for when I go out to the lake. But, when you are in the middle of a lake, 99% of the time you do not have wifi internet access so its usefulness would be limited to telling time and looking at downloaded stuff you have already viewed.
