Wii U's only real issue is it hasn't had any quality games since launch. Marketing the system now would be dumb because there is nothing to market.

A Price Cut would make sense around the end of October right before the Holiday season begins. Discontinue the basic and bring the deluxe down to $300. Nintendo will essentially be competing with themselves though as Pokemon will surely sell many 3DS systems this Holiday.

Either way, I see no reason to wait until 2014 because while the price isn't really a big problem it would still help if it was lower for the Holiday sales rush. Plus, if it is lowered this year, it will still be lowered once Mario Kart 8 arrives so why wait?

I agree with just about everythinf u said except cutting the price so close to the holidays. If ur going to do a price cut it makes most sense to either do it a few months before or after the holidays to either build up momentum going in to them or to sustain post holiday momentum. Doing it so close to the holidays doesnt make sense to me because retailers will do there own discounts/bundles regardless of an official cut ot not. I wouldnt be surprised to see the Basic down to $199 and the Deluxe with a game for $299 between Black Friday and Christmas.

I think they will either do a $50 cut in August to coincide with Pikmin 3 and the summer update, I know Pikmin isnt a big system pusher but from its release thru thr end of the year, theres an exclusive releasing every 2-3 weeks. If they dont cut it then, I think it will be a $100 cut in April to coincide with Mario Kart 8 to start off the fiscal year on a strong note. In either case I suspect they will phase out the Basic model.
