OP should just update the original post with all of NDs offenses and I doubt that anyone would be naive enough to think that Ellie wasn't modeled after Ellen Page. I know I've mentioned it multiple times in this thread, but Ellie = Ellen Page, Nathan Drake = Nathan Fillion. Their Names and likeness are both the same. How could a coincidence like this happen twice? The answer is, it's not a coincidence. It was completely intentional.

Katherine Marlow = Helen Mirren

Yup, completely.  Do you really think Naughty Dog lacks that much imagination?  When you're making computer generated characters, they're bound to look like someone.  Who are they going to make characters look like?  Phil the intern?  No, they're going to draw off of real people.

"So what does this character look like?"
"Snarky smirk, good hair, generally handsome fellow, kind of like Nathon Fillon"
"Okay, let's mock up Nathan Fillon and make some adjustments."
"Yuppers."

Move cheekbones, change the nose a little, tweak this, tweak that...the bottom line is they're not just going to go in the Naughty Dog bag of random ears, noses, eyes, and mouths and hope something good comes out on the other side.  Of course they're going to model it after something that exists.

Ellen Page looks like about a billion chicks.  Generic features, brunette, pretty, but nothing that knocks you on your ass.  Does Ellie look incredibly like Ellen Page?  Absolutely.  Is that because Ellen Page also looks like a billion other chicks? Yes.

Why is this thread still going?

Im confused as to what you are saying. Correct me if I am wrong, but its sounds like you also admit that they used Ellen to draw off of. I thought you were trying to defend ND?

I'm not trying to defend Naughty Dog.  I've said that like 10 times.  What I'm saying is yes, they probably drew off of Ellen Page's likeness, but who cares?  The appeal of Ellie isn't that she looks like Ellen Page, it's that Ellen Page and Ellie both look like innocent, easy to relate to, accessible, and ordinary everyday people you decide to care about.

I would bet that The Last of Us has not sold 1 extra copy because someone thought Ellie was Ellen Page, and Beyond: Two Souls will not sell 1 copy less because someone thought Ellen Page was in The Last of Us too.  It's a non issue.  Not a big deal.

All art has inspiration in something else.  Every video game character will always look like someone else, and that person may have been the inspiration for the character.  Someone else in this thread mentioned that the only reason people are bringing it up is the timing of Beyond: Two Souls coming out this year.

If this is an issue, then Borderlands ripped off Mad Max and The Hunger Games ripped off The Running Man and it's a slippery slope from there.

PS - Nice avatar...glad Futurama is back, if only for a little while longer.
