Well i think the average comsumer ( and the average kid in school) will just see the 3 and the 5 and go "Told you is much better".
But note that MS does not mentions relevant specs in their conferences. the Xbone is 1.2Tf (PS4 1.8 TF) and according to some "insiders" its downclocked and it reserves 10% of the cpu for Tv stuff.
Even if the specs were the same, the TV OS just eats so many resources that it does create a gap, just think that is eating 3GB of Ram constantly, along 10% of CPU power.
