Truth is you're going to have to wait until the end of 2014.  This year might be the year of PS4 and Xbox One given that they are both NEW launches.  That being said, if by the time games like Mario Kart are out, and possibly bundled by Christmas 2014, you don't see a drastic sales increase...  then you can start to panic.

I agree... somewhat. Personally I think E3 2014 will show if Nintendo has any chance of succeeding here, and if they succeed at E3, we'll have to wait until Christmas 2014 to see what really happens. But if they don't improve by then, they'll need a miracle. And I'm fairly convinced that unless they can pull off everything perfectly until then, they're screwed.

Yes and no.  I'll explain.  

I like Nintendo.  Grew up with them.  But when you see the current sales, the way 3rd parties are giving them the rub, etc. it's hard not to be a little worried.

But then I stop and realize that money is EVERYTHING.  Games too, but really they are tied to money at the end of the day.  For example, if I said by the end of 2014 that the Wii U was FREE to everyone, how many people could honestly say they wouldn't have one?  Exactly.  You'd have to really hate every Nintendo exclusive.

Now the challenge becomes, since you can't sell the system for free, what cost is worth the price of admission to people.  The lower the price goes and the larger the library gets, the easier that becomes to justify.  Same could be said for the other systems too.
