No, Sony wasn't right. The Nintendo Wii outsold the PS3 and the 360 is dead even with it, neither of which use high capacity formats. They could have waited until this gen like Nintendo and MS did, had a much much cheaper PS3 console, launched earlier, and probably won the generation. But they wanted their Blu-Ray trojan horse, gamers be damned.

Also, link to the statements from MS saying they had no HD-DVD plans past this generation?

Fine, Sony wasn't right, MS turned on their word and accepted Blu Ray. MS is moving up in the world.
