Seeing as people has been mistaking Ellie for Ellen Page (even the name Ellie and Ellen is similar) since the reveal it is obvious that they look extremely similar and from an actor's perspective that is a pretty cheap way of cashing in on off her popularity where she gets no rewards out of it. Video games isn't like they was 10 years ago. Now acting goes hand in hand with voice acting and The Last of Us presents that very well and when people don't know what the game is but they are a fan of her and see someone who looks like her on the cover they may buy it thinking it is Ellen Page. |
Agreed. Lately these forums keep getting plagued with so much hostility. Ellen Page is not even being very vocal about it, although she does have a right to be. But its not like she's planning on suing ND. Tbh, it was only in this thread that I found out that Ellie isnt supposed to be Ellen Page in the Last of Us. Isn't Ellie a nickname for Ellen. And there is no denying that the first character draft was based on her. The similarities are far too pronounced to be purely coincidence. Developers need to be more careful about these things. In the beginning of Shenmue games, they even put a disclaimer for the characters looking similiar to a real person because those developers knew that it is not right to use someone's likeness without their permission.
