I actually think the OP has a point. I didn't pay any attention to the calculations, but its true that more people would have replaced their consoles as result of the initially high failure rate of the Xbox. However thats changed now, the newer Xbox models are much better.
Theres a lot of other factors to consider as well. The main thing is that the consoles are about even, if you consider however the Xbox 360 has sold maybe 10 mil more units in the US then that is a blight on Sony's performance in the US this gen.
