If I get what you are saying, I agree. It is OK to embrace both the new and old school.
And yes The Last of Us is a great game.
One thing I did notice is that there was some pop in, texture loading etc. I don't remember any of that with Uncharted 2 or 3. Not sure if my memory is failing or if Naughty Dog was rushing to meet schedule with this release per Sony (before they move to the ps4 titles)
