I know people will say I'm a fanboy but the fact today is that the JRPG public is on PS3... so if a company want to make money and the game will be release for another plataform then you have to release in the better plataform in terms of sales.

MMO'S public is mostly on PC. JRPG's public is mostly on 3DS.

DQIX sold better on DS than DQVIII on PS2. The next DQ game should go on 3DS which is the best platform for JRPG in term of sales.

Going by that logic, DQ9 should have been on PS3 since PS2 was the best platform for JRPGs. There really isn't any evidence as of now that 3DS is the place for JRPGs. 

I really hope the next DQ isn't on a handheld. DQ9 could have been so much more (although 3DS doesn't have nearly the amount of limitations the DS has).

The DS was the best place for RPGs after the ps2 era. RPGs have sold best on the 3ds in Japan, so it makes sense to release it on 3ds. DQM Terry remake sold well over a million and DQ7 remake has sold well over a million already. The DQ audience has already been shifting to the 3ds.
