Oh please. You come into a thread where the intent is to ask people why they are not playing this amazing game. You see an opputunity to post the same crap you post every single time when it comes to non nintendo or cinematic story driven games. To me that is borderline trolling. If you don't care as much about it why do you even bother. I don't go saying random gibberish in Pokemon threads or RTS genre etc as the games just don't interest me. You act like only you are the one who gets emotionally invested in the games you play (Xenoblade was it) and rest everyone is a clown watching the movies made by Sony. If you actually took the controller from your friend and tried thinking for second on how to strategically get past the various obstacles you face in the game. You'll know there is no lack of gameplay in the game. Why don't you suggest him to stop playing too as you could both watch it on youtube as you previously suggested you'd do. This was even before the game was even out. So please forgive me but i don't buy your useless view of only 3 games! Furthermore i wish i had ignore button for you here and don't say that easily as it can be quite hurtful to say that to someone. People fight here about the consoles all the time making fun of the opposite party but atleast they respect the games. You miss the point. Go play Pokemon again. |
I was answering the thread question - and it has nothing to do with fanboyism since I'm enjoying Shadow of the Colossus, the PS3 version of Okami, and FF10 right now. I simply value narrative through gameplay mechanics - that's the intrisic element of the medium.
The moment we stop being critical of this is the moment games lose their intrinsic value.
When my buddy gets stuck, I'll take the controller from him - but that hasn't happened yet. It's pretty smooth sailing. I've said it once and I'll say it again: I do not want sony to fail since competition inspires innovation and I do purchase Sony games that I respect (ex/ SotC deserves to be in anyone's collection).
On a side note - The Last of Us has a good story - I'm getting emotionally invested in the characters just like the Walking Dead.

Games can and should tell stories and share ideas through their mechanics. This is the intrinsic element of the medium and this is how experiences should be crafted in video games. No company does this as well as Nintendo and their echoes from the past.
