See what happens when you only do 6 seconds of research? You come up with outdated data. You article is not from 2013, it's from February 2010. Here's an article from the end of April 2010:

http://www.engadget.com/2010/04/26/sony-ps3-upgraded-with-cooler-45-nm-rsx-graphics-chip-profits-a/

As you can see, Sony has been turning a profit on the PS3 for more than 2 years now.

Then why are there more here from 2012 saying otherwise?

http://www.escapistmagazine.com/news/view/118856-Sony-Losing-Money-on-PSP-PS3

http://www.egmnow.com/articles/news/sony-loses-312-million-to-start-off-2012-playstation-loses-45-million/

Also, your posted article only talks of the hardware upgrade, that it "might turn a profit in the near future", but is merely a hypothetical statement about future PS3 sales. They never turned a profit like the article said, because they lowered the price to combat the XB360 price drop.

I know I'm not going to get you to understand the reality of this. It's truly a case study of the Allegory of the Cave.

*sigh*

You should really read what you post, dude. Those figures are for the whole of SCE so not just the PS3. And here are the numbers for the quarter following the one that you posted (profit of $29M):

and the quarter after that one (profit of $53M):

Anything else to add?
