It's not news that Sony loses money per console sold. There's a certain pricepoint that makes it not even worth selling for, because the revenue on the backend via software and licensing doesn't cover.  For example, if you had a product that cost yuo $100 to make, sold it for $75, but would get $5 for every unit sold, you'd be doing ok. But if you started selling it for $20, the profit and investment would be negligible.

I'd like to see where you pulled those numbers from, seems a large margin of error for such an extended period of time. Black Friday- Christmas, I could believe, prior, seems unlikely.

I would like a source for that claim - that they are losing money per console sold. Because last I checked, they were making a profit on each PS3 sold.

Really? You know about Google right? 6 seconds of searching finds the following:

2006 - http://www.pcworld.com/article/127906/article.html

2013 - http://www.play-mag.co.uk/latest-playstation-news/sony-still-selling-ps3s-at-a-loss/

At least now I understand that you're just going to say the opposite of the truth I'm providing, regardless of logic or fact.

See what happens when you only do 6 seconds of research? You come up with outdated data. You article is not from 2013, it's from February 2010. Here's an article from the end of April 2010:

http://www.engadget.com/2010/04/26/sony-ps3-upgraded-with-cooler-45-nm-rsx-graphics-chip-profits-a/

As you can see, Sony has been turning a profit on the PS3 for more than 2 years now.

Then why are there more here from 2012 saying otherwise?

http://www.escapistmagazine.com/news/view/118856-Sony-Losing-Money-on-PSP-PS3

http://www.egmnow.com/articles/news/sony-loses-312-million-to-start-off-2012-playstation-loses-45-million/

Also, your posted article only talks of the hardware upgrade, that it "might turn a profit in the near future", but is merely a hypothetical statement about future PS3 sales. They never turned a profit like the article said, because they lowered the price to combat the XB360 price drop.

I know I'm not going to get you to understand the reality of this. It's truly a case study of the Allegory of the Cave.
