at the start of the gen thats how sony and mircosoft have done bussines, but after a few years they start to make money off of the hardware. the PS3 has been making a profit on hardware after early 2010 and that is with an extremely expensive to build piece of hardware. The Wii/DS has made shitloads off of hardware alone. you keep talking about these benifits of DRM and always online yet i dont see microsoft doing any of them with the xbox 1. "Software and everything you purchase thoughr lives on (since its digital and transferrable). " yet i see no backwards compatiblity with the xbox1. i see no cheaper prices on xbox live and i see no advantages what so ever. microsoft is all talk about the advantages with no action. but when it comes to restrictions and anti-consumer policies they are all in for it. but of course, you will never admit it nor will you stop this defending it, you have your own reason and i honestly dont care for it. things are laid out in a very simple manner for you but we both know what your reaction will be like |
No backwards compatibility is a much bigger crime than DRM in my opinion. I've made many posts about that... I don't care what the technical limitations are, they should figure out a way.
However the only thing that saves microsoft and sony from complete lashing in terms of not offering backwards compatibility is the fact that last gen consoles were physical medium based with a fun, side business of offering downloadable titles. There is no always on, no syncing with the cloud on xbox 360, for my purchases to be available. The console was never designed to take advantage of digital and never promissed to offer digital cloud based gaming.
As far as "Xbox Live has no sales" -

Fable 3 is currently absolutely free for digital download if you're a gold member. Lots of great sales of great games are available on xbox live, you are just to busy with other stuff to notice or turn the blind eye to them.
