The US and the USSR were locked in a heated pissing match to control the world for four decades. For two of them, the space program symbolized that struggle. By putting the first man in space, the USSR got bragging rights. By putting a man on the moon, the USA got 'em back - for good. No fucking way -NO fucking way - the USSR would have let the Americans (let alone Richard Fucking Nixon) get away with playing a fuggazi landing. If there was even the faintest whiff of foul play, you can be sure Tass would have spread the word far, wide and loud, yet they said not one peep for the next 20 years. It's a fucking shame that bullshit like this can find an audience.
