Well last gen is lasting what 7-8 years before the new system? So same thing for this gen...
Yeah I could see it happening. People have to really look at the Steam model. You get some REALLY good prices for new titles, and people don't bitch there about no used games.
But I think the problem with console gamers are a majority (or a majority of the minority that is extremely vocal) is always about sharing and having an actual boxed product. However, I'm all for sexy boxes with goodies that just have digital codes for said game.
Also broadband still has to expand. It has to be available more and more WW in 8 years, and companies like ATT and Comcast need to raise the gig caps considering games will be even larger in size.
It's just that simple.
