In 2-3 years, retail based sales should be dwarfed by digital. And since there will be no selling, trading or sharing of games on digital any time soon, EA can relax and play the good guy now to reap the benefits later.

I'm not so sure. So many other eletronic entertainment devices are going this route. Smart TVs, cellphones, tablets, PCs...

Once people see that downloaded games auto update while disk based games update when you insert the disk...

Once people see how fast app switching works for digital while for disks you have to wait for loading and switch manually yourself...

Once people see that PS4 offers game streaming to the Vita any tiem anywhere, but only for games you bought digitally, while CD games you have to put the disk in and play from home...

they'll never see this if there internet is not up to par. and for alot of people it isnt.
