I already started it on Survivor, and though its hard so far I havent really gotten totally stuck (even though there have been times I expected too). I have just gotten to the part your navigating through the cemetary with Bill. The main changes, no 'concentrated hearing' (didnt realise how much I depended on that till it was gone!), and you get hardly any items at all, so you have to bit really sparing with what you do get (I havent even used a shiv yet other than to open locked doors!).

But it actually does make the game more enjoyable I find, as when I did it on normal like you said, I always had plenty of ammo, usually full items and materials to make more if I needed them. I think when I played on normal everytime I came to an encounter, I killed everything in the area. Though thats still possible on Survivor I guess, its a lot more about picking and choosing your fights. Sometimes its just better to avoid it and sneak past the enemies, as getting drawn into combat without resources can be a death sentence and like trying to break through a wall by headbutting it. Though I would recommend giving it a go, though difficult its not outlandish, and does help to create that feeling of 'struggle to survive'

This has pretty much been my experience on survivor as well.  Playing the game without listen mode was a huge adjustment (I used it constantly when I first played the game on hard), which has forced me to rely more on bricks and bottles to distract enemies.  Ammo and supplies are also really scarce, and like you, I pretty much save shivs for unlocking doors (I think I even missed opening a locked door because I didn't have enough parts to make one earlier in the game), as well as trying to avoid unneccessary fights because I don't want to waste ammo (because enemies often don't drop any ammo).

I guess I'm probably midway through the game again and the most difficult encounter I've faced on survivor so far is the part where you're making your way to the sniper.  I had already gone through most of my ammo fighting the infected in the sewers, so I had to get through a ton of hunters with only a few bullets.  Overall, I have not gotten stuck yet, but during that sniper encounter, I died enough times to make me consider if I should restart the sewers part and conserve more ammo (luckily I was able to get to the sniper without it).
