I dont live in America so i don't really understand, but is the Xbox brand really that much more popular than PlayStation?

I just find it odd that people would just dismiss PlayStation as 2nd tier because M$ won US this gen. I think people tend to forget how easily Sony/Nintendo won and also lost the US.
