The first preorder report sales after E3 could be shoed Xbone really bad... so bad that makes Gamestop to stop to take Xbone preorder to have a really long talk with MS... everything changed after that.

MS is not stupid to insist in a thing that will just kill them... and I'm not talking about forum users... it the general users that go to the physical store to buy their consoles and never read anything about in internet forums.

Microsoft isn't the type of company to backtrack easily. I mean people requested the start button in windows 8 and they are getting it with the next update...but it doesn't do anything start button did before. It has a brand new function which is bound to piss people off even more... And Windows 8 sales aren't stellar at the moment.

You could be right though. Maybe Microsoft had some warnings in terms of sales and decided its better to get their foot in the door and then flip the switch. The current change in strategy doesn't totally align with Microsoft long term goals, but they probably didn't see another way.
