It's unfortunate, some manager blinked. MS could have refined digital sharing or even made it a configurable option with an offline mode, which would have been the best. Perhaps they will in the future, who knows. But this time the luddites and hate-machine has triumphed, alghough I'm not totally convinced of that. It's also entirely possible that the big publishers picked up the phone and said "sharing? oh no you don't."
