I just realized that Microsoft is 1 step away from fixing this for everyone.

When I buy a retail copy, give me a choice... Let me choose, digital, always on DRM, or disk based DRM when I'm installing it.

Digital DRM - no resale, no disk swapping, fast switching and all goodies that come with digital software

Disk DRM - last gen disk swapping but with resale stuff

Can we get a petition going people?? I'm serious... :)

They can solve it 2 way:

  1. Sell a digital copy install disc for $5. Install disc will install the game and then take you online to purchase the digital copy license for $5 cheaper.
  2. Sell a Blu-ray + Digital Copy version for $10 more. This will include the game disc and a digital license as an activation code. You enter the activation code into your Xbox One.  It will tell you to insert game disc, so it can verify you have the game. Once verified, you get digital rights. This method wouldn't prevent people from giving away codes, but would just make it harder. You and a friend could both get the game for $35 each. An extra $10 is better for the developer to get, than see nothing from a Gamestop re-sale.
