I don't think having to connect to the internet once is a big deal.  Maybe in the third world, but I don't think it's a deterent.


As for the Kinect, they need the install base for it if they ever hope to make the thing viable for games.  Just like Nintendo couldn't realisitcally launch without the gamepad if they ever planned on making a gamepad dependent game.  If you just want a standard controller, I'd recommend a PS4.
