Now that MS doesn't have DRM, will this give 3rd parties more incentives to do it themselves?

No, those games likely won't sell. There is always backlash on DRM on discs.

Sony has already been there with music and others have time and time again.

A game with crazy similar DRM will not sell well... at least not as well as others without.

Like I said I'm still not sure, a brand power is much more powerful than any DRM out there.
