This is huge gamble for MS. The Xbox One was made to have the DRM and online checks specifications, changing this stuff will take a lot of time and money, plus all the R&D that was put into this will be completely lost.
If this is indeed the case I don't see how MS can launch the Xbox One this year, this changes will result in a big delay or a very bad launch.
