It depends on whether or not you consider the Vita and 3DS to be true competitors.
If you do believe that those two consoles are competing for the same market, at least in part, then you believe that the 3DS could possibly be taking potential customers away from the Vita. It's not hard to see why people would pick the 3DS over the Vita.
If you don't believe they're competing for the same market, then what exactly is the Vita's competition?
