Having "a blast" doesn't make it the best game ever. I had a blast playing through Metro 2033, but that didn't make it the best game ever either.

I agree...all games are not all things to all people and there are different gaming tastes around.  But I also think enough of the gaming population had a blast with Mario Galaxy to a point that you can say it has a massive appeal hence making it one of the best games last gen. Majority rules... :)
