I really enjoyed the game from beginning to end. Given Naughty Dog's history I came in expecting great cinematic presentation and dialogue (which they achieved), but what I didn't expect was the gameplay to be so amazing. I played the game on hard for my first playthrough, and from the limited ammo and supplies, to the way the enemies fought during combat (e.g., shooting at you immediately once you pop out of cover, approaching when you run out of ammo, etc.), Naughty Dog really nailed the survival and spontaneity aspects of gameplay.
However, what has impressed me the most is the tiny details in the game. From Joel visually covering Ellie while in cover, to the way you reel back when shot (or the way enemies slump in accordance to how the bullets hit them), to the various dialogue from both the main characters and enemies during combat, those details, while incredibly small, showed that Naughty Dog really tried to capture as much of the emotion and realism of the world even into the combat.
