It was the end. NetFlix stock plunged from nearly $300 per share to about $50.  Remind you of anything. This is because NetFlix doubled down on streaming and increased the cost of renting physical discs.

Similiar and yes slightly different to what MS is doing.  I for one and totally excited on the doubling down on digital. I look forward to pre-ordering a game and have it download to my Xbox One and then at 12:01AM when the game launches it being already installed and ready to go. Remember the download can be done in advance of the actual release and the game just not be able to run until the launch date. I look forward to my son away at school to use all the games we have at home and no arguments about purchasing multiple copies, about what games he takes to school and what stays home for his brothers and I to play, etc. etc.

To add with all the hub bub about this the last month take a look at Wall Street.  MSFT stock has basically performed exactly the same as the rest of the market and basically the same as Sony, Google and Apple.

They aren't really comparable at all:

Netflix changed their policies, which would cause most people's cost to more than double for the same service, after already raising their prices 9 months earlier.  Then they said they were going to make an entire new company - another PR Disaster.  Also, lost some major contracts in the middle of all this.  What happened is most people dropped part of their services, and lowered their bill and a huge dent in Netflix's profits.  It was several disasters to existing customers in a row and lower overall revenue for the company.

A great percentage of Xbox One whiners are fans of other consoles, or systems who would never buy an Xbox anyway.  If Netflix had a major competitor who was posting all over the place how terrible Netflix was (Say Hulu+), who never used the service, then that would be different.

Microsoft stock is still hovering around their 1 year high.  They are up over 24% for the year.

Exactly my point. Was huge PR disaster and really hasnt had much of an effect.

Its libraries that sell systems not a single game.
