I think there are a lot of other factors that people aren't taking into account in these discussions generally speaking. It would definitely be a bad move to go digital only at this point, and you might say X1 is more forward thinking in this regard, but that is a very speculative assumption. The future of technology is likely to have its next biggest change in the next 5 - 10 years as silicon is reaching certain limits of performance, and newer technologies are currently being researched by prestigious institutions and Intel. Having my game library on the cloud for any physical media I bought is a neat feature, but not exactly necessary and more of a pain than just bringing a game disc to a friend's house and being able to play it quickly with out having to sign in / authenticate download and install the game. Furthermore, as the tech of the next gen of consoles will likely be utilizing something other than silicon chipsets I would not be able to utilize that game library with out some sort of streaming feature.

x1 will still have some excellent gaming capabilities and some neat multimedia features. However, I feel the TV one is mostly pointless as I can get an app for that on my phone/tablet so there is no real need for this feature. I think the major point of concern is that while a lot of these restrictions may not affect a portion of the gaming community they will not be able to capture a lot of other areas, and was with the x3 vs ps3 people will play what their friends are playing as well so there is a higher likelihood of that swinging the ps4's favor.
