Beat in sales, possible but at this point highly unlikely.

Take out, virtually impossible unless Sony does absolutely everything wrong from here on out and I don't just mean with the PS4. You're not taking Nintendo out in a single generation, i don't think it's possible. They are an incredibly conservative company and they have enough money in the bank to comfortably ride out several entirely failed home console generations.

This is ignoring the fact that MS is getting almost universally bad press at the moment with the exception of relatively die-hard fans. If i was a betting man I would say Sony is going to win the next generation fairly comfortably, how comfortably depends on how well Nintendo gets their act together in the next 18 months as I still think the WiiU has the potential to be a very popular second console. MS is going to have work very hard from here on out if they hope to see anything like the success of the 360 and I think they run significant risk of running a fairly distant third unless they take major steps to alter their current trajectory.

1.  It's still debatable that PS4 specs outdoes the X1; or that it would provide any meaningful diffrence. Just look at E3 and most games look better on X1 than on PS4...why is that?

2.  X1 had better exclusives and more of it.

3.  MS has deep pockets to make sure the system succeeds.

1. Based on numbers, the ps4 easily wins where CPU and ram is concerned. I do think X1 had a great graphical showing with forza and ryse. The forza developers are far nre experience than sony's evo studios, driveclub is their first sim-ish racer. Ryse is comparably narrow compared to sony's open ended games like Killzone and Infamous, both of which out perform Deadrising IMO. Whether the games were on realistic graphical settings on X1 is also yet to be determined, sony's games were actually running off dev kits.

2. Sony has only announced their launch window exclusives unlike  microsoft, so although I do think Xbox has the edge now, that could change come Gamescon (last year sony announced 5 exclusives there) and TGS. Also for the core gamer, sony actually has more next gen exclusives on launch day including F2Ps and MMOs. That won't matter for casual gamers, but they aren't the gamers likely to pick up a system on its first holiday, especially true when said system costs $500.

3. Sony has a far greater pool of developers. They don't need to throw money at 3rd parties, and service wise they've already got a solid showing with Gaikai and on Demand services. which I think is enough for most peeps.
