Well the new sharing features will be possible because of it, so that's a cool enhancement.  But, as I mentioned, for whatever reason they have done a poor job of communicating the why's and we've done a bad job of requesting an answer.  All we've done is complained about it.  Granted, that can be a way to get an answer, but I always have preferred the direct approach as it's more productive.  

Q:  "The 24 hour authentication requirement has caused quite a stir.  Right now it seems like a new inconvenience for gamers that has little if any tangible benefit to them.  What are the benefits to gamers for this requirement?"

Has any 'journalist' asked that question that way?
