Sony has not yet announced they will be releasing the PlayStation 4 in Japan and other markets outside the US and Europe. It was just last month that Sony told CVG that Europe will be given a much higher priority since they felt that Microsoft will be giving a strong push in the territory."This E3 we confirmed that in the US and Europe we will be launching this holiday with the $399 (£349) price point," Yoshida told CVG in an interview. Japan isn't a priority, and it shouldn't be. MS isn't a threat there and Wii U numbers speak for itself.

Japan will still be the second largest market for them. They have a lot to announce at TGS, while I do think PS3 is Sony's primary focus for Japan.


No japan unfortunately outside of handhelds is not even close to being the second biggest market for either hardware or software for any system, (see current hardware/software number for japan only) and unless there is a huge seawall change next gen it will continue to become less and less relevant from a total sales standpoint.
