Why is buying used games such a big deal nowadays?

Games that are not that good are still sold because the buyer thinks he can resell it. So its good in a sense. Also not all people can buy $60-$40 game. Americans should think outside their territory as earning capacity is average for most people around the world, and still they need and want to game.
