What a difference! The PS3 was not the console gamers deserved (at least in the beginning), it was a console that Sony needed.

Could you provide a link for this quote, it's just i have heard of this quote but i have actually never seen it and i believe it to be a misquote.
Not questioning you personally I just need to see some proof behind it.

Its not a quote, its a catch phrase made up by journalist reporting on an infamous speech by Ken Kutaragi "we want consumers to think, 'I will work more hours to buy one'. We want people to feel that they want it, irrespective of anything else."

This was picked up by several media and the phrase 'get a second job to buy a PS3' went viral.
