As stupid as it sounds, the support staff cannot just make answers based on their logical sense, since the topic got rather complicated lately. That's not their fault. They can only give out information that is 100% confirmed even if somebody asks something stupid like this. Microsofts PR, the media and us gamers (in that order) are to blame for what just happens now and the support staff has the ungrateful pleasure to give exact information to a unbelievable amount of questions - some stupid like this one - in a calm and friendly way.
