I'm saying these games are not system sellers, nobody is going to buy a currently priced $350 console for those games, they are better suited as complementary games later in a console life cycle like how they were used on the Wii. Why didn't Nintendo just use these games to carry the momentum of the Wii? Does it not bother anyone else that the games Nintendo are showcasing for the WiiU could have easily been done on the Wii. I am perplexed as to why Nintendo would abandon its most successful console, with a large userbase, to release games on another console with a smaller userbase. NSMBU, Pikmin 3, DKCTR, NSMB 3d World, all could have been used to give the Wii more momentum until they got their act together for games that are worthy of buying a new console for. Edit- These are the first year wiiU titles I mentioned specifically, why these could not be used to carry the momentum of the wii into its later years then release the wiiU in 2013 with the 2014 titles. |
This thought has occurred to me as well. I would have bought many of these games on Wii no problem but to have to buy a new system (with a controller I don't want) to play them is a major hinderence. Really, except for the maybe X, all of these games could have been Wii games and that being the case, it feels like a bit of a ripoff to have to upgrade to a new system to play them, just because.
On the other hand PS4 and XBOne are also going to have this problem. Except from Quantum Spark (or whatever it's called) I'm not seeing anything there that's really couldn't have been done on PS3/360 (graphics aside of course). But then I haven't paid them too much attention so maybe I've missed something.
