Yeah but your not stuck with the carrier you got your phone from. You can unlock it and get a sim from anyone, so it's not quite worthless. Also, you don't have to do anything with your phone. The carrier is happy to just take your money, whether you use your phone or not in a certain way, they just don't care. Microsoft is forcing people to check in to even play a game. How is that the same as a phone?
