Edit: The PS2 launched at $299 and yet the PS1 went on to sell 25M units more.

This was the longest gen in the history of genz evar! The consoles are getting more focus from the media too, it's different. The PS3 can't drop it's price as far as the PS2, the hardware is still too expensive.

This is the longest gen in the hostory of gens and yet the PS3 is still selling really well. It sold 97% of what the 3DS sold this year according to VGChartz. Also, don't bet on the PS3 being $270 forever.
