CD and 3D gaming brought a lot to be honest. Way more that any gen after that. Sounds were far better, music was more engaging, full motion videos. 3D brought another dimention that completely changed the gaming industry. Resident Evil, Gran Turismo, DDR games, FPSs, Sports everything was so different that you had to learn to play all over again... now I'm getting tired of the same things...
